Our Classes
Pre-School Dance
Ages 3-5 years old
*Dancers Must Be Potty Trained
Our Pre-School Dance Program is creative movement based and geared towards dancers 3-5 years of age. Students begin to learn primary dance steps and our fun and engaging activities promote the continued development of coordination and fine motor skills. Students will also prepare a piece for our June Recital.

Thurs 4:30 - 5:15pm or Sat, 9:00 -9:45am

Primary Dance
Combo Class of Ballet & Tap
Ages 5-8 years old
Our Primary Combination classes are for dancers in kindergarten through second grade. Combination classes are 1 hour in length (30 minutes of Ballet & 30 minutes of Tap). Dancers continue to learn primary level dance steps and skills, using proper terminology in addition to working on musicality, all while having fun! Dancers have a Ballet and a Tap piece in our June Recital.
Primary Combination Dance 2023-2024 Schedule:
Combo A: Thurs, 5:15 - 6:15pm or Sat, 9:45 -10:45am
Combo B: Mon, 5:00 - 6:00pm
Combo C: Mon, 6:30 - 7:30pm

General Class / Level Descriptions

Level 1:
Dancers in our Level 1 are either new to dance or have just graduated from our Combo C Class. Students in Level 1 are eligible to take Ballet, Tap, and Jazz. In Level 1, dancers begin to learn proper technique in addition to continued work on musicality and terminology.
Typical Ages: 8-11
*Students in Level 1 must be enrolled in Ballet at Legacy in order to take Jazz
*Tap is highly encouraged
Level 2:
Level 2 is a continuation of basic technique, musicality, and terminology with additional rhythms and concepts added. (Students must complete Level 1 or be recommended by the Director). Students are able to begin studying Lyrical in addition to the other subjects (Ballet, Tap, & Jazz).
Typical Ages: 9-11
*Students must be enrolled in Ballet at Legacy in order to take Lyrical
Level 3:
In addition to working on established technique, dancers in Level 3 also incorporate physicality, stretch, and strength into their dance training. Students continue to learn how to count music and performance quality is emphasized.
Typical Ages: 10-12
*Students must be enrolled in Ballet at Legacy in order to take Lyrical
Pre-Intermediate:
Dancers in our Pre-Intermediate Level continue to enhance their technique, performance quality and musicality, in addition to learning about improvisation. Physicality, stretch, strength, and performance quality are all emphasized.
Typical Ages: 11+
*Students must be enrolled in Ballet at Legacy in order to take Lyrical
Open Recreation Class:
Our Open Recreation class is for both experienced and novice students looking to learn new skills, enhance technique, and have fun! This level of class is best suited for dancers ages 13+.
Our Open Recreation Program is ideal for students who want to dance but also participate in other extra-curricular activities. Dancers at this level typically take one to four dance classes a week.

Intensive Study Program

Our Intensive Study Program is for students who have completed 5 or more years of Ballet training with clean technique and strong performance quality. Students at this level are serious about their dance training and take at least 2 Ballet classes a week in addition to classes in other subjects Tap, Jazz, & Lyrical). Students at this level have an awareness of their own physicality and knowledge of their strengths and needs and utilize developed skills in stretch, stamina, and strength.
Typical Ages: 13+
*Students must be enrolled in Ballet at Legacy in order to take Lyrical
*Intensive Study students must be enrolled in at least 2 Ballet classes at Legacy
*Pointe work is at the discretion of the Studio Director
